Smart Parking

What is Smart Parking?

Smart Parking keeps your vehicle safe while parked by automatically recording if an impact is detected. The Dash Cam captures a 30-second protected file, followed by 5 minutes of unprotected footage if no further impacts occur.

How to turn on Smart Parking:

  1. From the homepage, select "More", at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Select "Setup Settings" and tap "Smart Parking"
  3. Select "On".
Warning: Smart Parking should ONLY be enabled if your camera is connected with a permanent power supply (live when the ignition is off).

How do I power my camera in Smart Parking?

To ensure Smart Parking is always active, your camera must be powered using a Nextbase Hardwire Kit or OBD cable. These options provide a constant power supply from your vehicle, even when the engine is off, so your camera is ready to record at all times.

Will Smart Parking drain power?

The Nextbase Hardwire kit automatically cuts power if your car battery drops to 11.6V.

If the cut-off activates and the car isn’t driven for some time, your battery may still naturally discharge.

This can also happen even without a Dash Cam, as modern cars still draw power when parked.

Regular driving keeps your battery topped up.

If you plan on leaving the vehicle for long periods of time (1+ weeks ) and your Dash Cam has a permanent power source, we would recommend unplugging the device to save your car battery.
