Emergency SOS

What is Emergency SOS?

The Emergency SOS (ESOS) feature provides immediate help in critical situations, keeping you safe on the road.

In the event of an incident where the driver is unresponsive, Emergency SOS can alert the emergency services to your location and provide them with your approved medical details. This ensures the emergency services can respond quickly without relying on other road users to contact them on your behalf – providing essential support when driving on rural or quiet roads.

How does it work?

Crash detection

When a high G-force impact is detected, ESOS activates; your Piqo flashes red and blue.

120-Second countdown

A 120-second countdown begins.
Audio announcements will play continuously throughout the countdown.
You can stop the countdown using the Piqo button or by using the app.

Emergency contact

If the countdown reaches zero:

  • An emergency request is sent.

  • You’ll be contacted to confirm if help is needed.

  • If you don’t respond, emergency services are dispatched to your location

Setup

Enable ESOS through the Nextbase app in a few simple steps. A Nextbase Protect subscription is required to enable ESOS.

Do I need a smartphone to connect to Emergency SOS?

Yes, a smartphone is required to use the Emergency SOS feature, as it is the phone that contacts the emergency services for you.

Your smartphone must meet these minimum requirements to use Emergency SOS:

  • Android 10
  • iOS 15

Is Emergency SOS available in my country?

Please refer to this article if you would like to see if Emergency SOS is available in your country.

Important information

The countdown will stop automatically if:

  • Piqo moves 50m from the crash site.

  • Your phone moves 20 steps away.
