How Much Footage Can Be Stored on My SD Card?
The amount of video your Dash Cam can store depends on two things:
-
The size of your SD card
-
The recording resolution (higher resolution = larger files, less total footage).
Example
A 622GW recording in 4K with a Rear Cam (1080p) uses around 510MB per minute.
-
With a 64GB SD card (64,000MB), divide 64,000 ÷ 510 = 125 minutes.
-
125 minutes ÷ 60 = 2.08 hours of total recording.
-
After this, the Dash Cam will start overwriting the oldest files.
Important notes
-
The total includes protected files (files marked safe from overwrite). If you have many protected files, new files will overwrite sooner.
-
Rear cameras use more storage.
-
Dual Files, used by Ultra HD models, also increase file size.
-
Audio recording slightly increases file size (turning it off saves space).
-
Lighting conditions affect file size—more detail means larger files.
-
Metadata (G-sensor, GPS) adds a small amount of data.
Key takeaways
-
Bigger SD card = more hours.
-
Higher resolution or rear cameras = fewer hours.
-
Protected files reduce available space for new recordings.
